Storm Literary Agency

Boutique literary agency representing quality literature from exceptional authors and illustrators

First, there was a  teacher who loved books almost as much as she loved little children. Then, there was an artist who loved pirates, almost as much as he loved cats. As it turns out, that artist could also write, and that teacher loved the pirate stories he wrote. And she shared those stories with the children she taught. The children loved the pirate stories; they also loved the cats. They wanted more stories with pirates and cats. They also wanted an adventure. And the stories gave them so many adventures. And that is that: Storm Literary Agency came about because it needed to. The children requested it. And so did the cats.

Storm Literary Agency welcomes submissions from unique and talented authors and illustrators, those who are not afraid to embrace their capacity to teach, to entertain, to engage and to honor people, young and old, who hopefully, will be changed by the work represented here.

Patricia J. Franz

Patricia Franz is a children’s author and poet. She writes with a love for the natural world about our connections to place and to one another. Her stories and poetry always begin with a long, loving look at the real.

Her children’s poems appear in several Pomelo Books anthologies including Things We Feel (2022), Things We Wear (2022), What Is a Friend? (2022), and What Is Hope? (2023), with a forthcoming anthology in 2024. She has two poems in Picture Perfect Poetry: An Anthology of Ekphrastic Nature Poetry for Students (2024). Her first adult poem, “something small has died,” was published in The Write Launch Winter 2024: Climate Crisis.

Patricia writes with the online Poetry Friday community each week, on her blog: Reverie. She is active in two SCBWI regions (AZ and SF), in addition to Inked Voices, a richly resourced, supportive online writing community.

Before committing herself full-time to writing, Patricia earned degrees in Business (B.S. Management) and Theology (M.A. Children’s Spirituality).

Some notable moments in her life:

  • The owner of the San Francisco Giants turned down her request (at the age of 8) to be a ball-girl.

  • She lived in a tree house for two months outside Kenai, Alaska.

  • Post-retirement, she rode her bike 450 miles from the Sierras to the sea in seven days.

When she’s not writing, you will find her cycling, hiking and spending time with family and friends. Her greatest joys: toddlers (especially one named Grayson), octogenarians, and sourdough. Patricia, her husband, and their Bernese Mountain dog call two places home: the Sonoran Desert and the Sierra Nevada mountains.
