Nicki Jacobsmeyer started entertaining her imagination by writing stories down in elementary school. As she got older, she enjoyed inspiring and encouraging others through her writing. Over a decade ago, she realized writing was her true passion and hasn't stopped since.
She is obsessed with research and reading. Since she panics if she is without a book, you can find a trail of them throughout her house and truck. Although her laptop is not far away, she always writes her first draft with a #2 pencil and paper. Jacobsmeyer collects pencils when she travels or persuades family and friends to bring one back as a souvenir. Each pencil has a story, and it inspires her as she writes. Jacobsmeyer writes fiction and non-fiction for children and adults. She has two forthcoming nonfiction picture books, Tales on Trails: The Packhorse Librarians of Appalachia (Arcadia Children’s Book, Summer 2027) and Spooky America: The Ghostly Tales of Maine's Haunted Lighthouses (Arcadia Children’s Book, Summer 2026), and other children and adult publications including Spooky America: The Ghostly Tales of St. Charles (Arcadia Children’s Books, 2025), Images of America: Kentucky’s Packhorse Librarians (Arcadia Publishing, 2025), Surviving the Iditarod, You Choose: Surviving Extreme Sports (Capstone Press, 2017), Images of America: Chesterfield (Arcadia Publishing, 2016). She is represented by Senior Agent Heather Cashman of Storm Literary Agency. She is the Co-Host and Partner of the Way-Word Writers Podcast, a community that supports and encourages established writers. Jacobsmeyer is a PBParty Annual Contest Honorable Mention winner among 1100 entries (April 2024), the 3rd place winner of the Institute of Children’s Literature Narrative Nonfiction Picture Book Contest (December 2023), and honor recipient of the 2021 SCBWI Works of Outstanding Promise (WOOP) Grant. Besides reading and writing she loves to travel, knit, the outdoors, sunsets, family barbecues and watching a storm come in from her front porch. Nicki is represented by Heather Cashman. Publications
