Storm Literary Agency

Boutique literary agency representing quality literature from exceptional authors and illustrators

First, there was a  teacher who loved books almost as much as she loved little children. Then, there was an artist who loved pirates, almost as much as he loved cats. As it turns out, that artist could also write, and that teacher loved the pirate stories he wrote. And she shared those stories with the children she taught. The children loved the pirate stories; they also loved the cats. They wanted more stories with pirates and cats. They also wanted an adventure. And the stories gave them so many adventures. And that is that: Storm Literary Agency came about because it needed to. The children requested it. And so did the cats.

Storm Literary Agency welcomes submissions from unique and talented authors and illustrators, those who are not afraid to embrace their capacity to teach, to entertain, to engage and to honor people, young and old, who hopefully, will be changed by the work represented here.

Linda Skeers loves digging deep and discovering fascinating little tidbits of history or the world around us to share with young readers for her nonfiction projects. And the weirder and more obscure the fact, the better! She also loves shining the spotlight on lesser-known people in history who have done amazing things – but haven’t received the recognition they deserve. When writing fiction, she loves to create a line that makes her (and hopefully her readers) laugh so hard they snort!

Her books have been published by Lucent, Dial and Sourcebooks. The Impossible Patriotism Project (Dial) is a Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People. Tutus Aren’t My Style (Dial) is on the Rainbow List. Women Who Dared: 52 Stories of Fearless Daredevils, Adventurers, & Rebels (Sourcebooks) is a Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People. Dinosaur Lady:  The Daring Discoveries of Mary Anning, the First Paleontologist has been nominated for the California Young Reader’s Medal, the SB&F for Excellence in Science Writing and the Connecticut Nutmeg Award. It’s also a Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People and is currently being translated into Japanese.

Linda is active in the educational and writing communities and has co-taught the Whispering Woods Picture Book Writing Workshop for over 15 years. She was an instructor for the ICL writing correspondence course and a volunteer judge for Rate Your Story. She has presented at conferences for both fiction and nonfiction and is a founding member of the Nonfiction Ninjas, who present the online Nonfiction Fest every February.

When she’s not researching or writing, she enjoys reading, watching movies, playing board games, cheering on her local hockey team, and baking.
