Leslie Kimmelman

Leslie Kimmelman is the author of more than 50 picture books and early readers, including Everybody Says Shalom, a Sydney Taylor Honor Book, and four Sydney Taylor Notable titles. Her Write On, Irving Berlin! received the New York State Reading Association Charlotte Award in 2021. Her book, We’re Amazing, 1, 2, 3! a story about friendship and autism first developed and introduced Sesame Street’s Julia; her work on the autism initiative helped earn Sesame Workshop a Smithsonian Institute American Ingenuity Award. Leslie was a children’s book editor for many decades, including almost 25 years at Sesame Workshop. She lives outside New York City. In her spare time, Leslie is an avid reader, hiker, and baker.
