Storm Literary Agency

Boutique literary agency representing quality literature from exceptional authors and illustrators

First, there was a  teacher who loved books almost as much as she loved little children. Then, there was an artist who loved pirates, almost as much as he loved cats. As it turns out, that artist could also write, and that teacher loved the pirate stories he wrote. And she shared those stories with the children she taught. The children loved the pirate stories; they also loved the cats. They wanted more stories with pirates and cats. They also wanted an adventure. And the stories gave them so many adventures. And that is that: Storm Literary Agency came about because it needed to. The children requested it. And so did the cats.

Storm Literary Agency welcomes submissions from unique and talented authors and illustrators, those who are not afraid to embrace their capacity to teach, to entertain, to engage and to honor people, young and old, who hopefully, will be changed by the work represented here.

Kristin Smith graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree that—wouldn't you know it—had absolutely nothing to do with writing or publishing. Fast forward many years (and five kids!) later, and Kristin is now the best-selling and award-winning author of the Deception Game series, first published through Clean Teen Publishing. Her four-book series, which includes Catalyst (2016), Forgotten (2017), Fearless (2018) and Unbreakable (2022), has received numerous praise from authors and readers alike. Her first book, Catalyst, was a 2018 Independent Author Network Book of the Year Award finalist for the Young Adult category, a Teen Choice Book Awards nominee, and a Whitney Award nominee.

Kristin is a former Pitch Wars mentor who loves giving back to the writing community. Over the past few years, she has taught at various writing conferences and workshops and participated in numerous book events across the country. Some of those events include, but are not limited to: Teen Bookfest by the Bay in Corpus Christi, Texas where she was one of their featured authors for two years in a row; the South Carolina Association of School Librarians where she presented to school librarians from all over South Carolina; the Romantic Times Booklovers Convention in Atlanta, Georgia where she hosted several parties for readers. Kristin is currently a faculty member and will teach several writing classes at the the upcoming week-long Writers Who Run retreat that will be held in Lake Junaluska, NC in July 2023.

When she’s not writing, Kristin can be found planning her next Murder Mystery dinner party, researching her next vacation (she loves to travel!), or belting out karaoke (from the comfort of her own home). She’s also a hearty advocate of the Friday Movie Night, which she often enjoys with her husband and sons. A Virginia girl born and bred, Kristin now calls North Carolina home.
