Storm Literary Agency

Boutique literary agency representing quality literature from exceptional authors and illustrators

First, there was a  teacher who loved books almost as much as she loved little children. Then, there was an artist who loved pirates, almost as much as he loved cats. As it turns out, that artist could also write, and that teacher loved the pirate stories he wrote. And she shared those stories with the children she taught. The children loved the pirate stories; they also loved the cats. They wanted more stories with pirates and cats. They also wanted an adventure. And the stories gave them so many adventures. And that is that: Storm Literary Agency came about because it needed to. The children requested it. And so did the cats.

Storm Literary Agency welcomes submissions from unique and talented authors and illustrators, those who are not afraid to embrace their capacity to teach, to entertain, to engage and to honor people, young and old, who hopefully, will be changed by the work represented here.

Kailee Ngan is an author-illustrator from Hong Kong and is currently based in London.

Before studying MA Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, she worked as a social worker. Kailee’s social work background inspires her to create stories about sensitive issues and relationship between people. She believes children’s books are a ‘gentle but powerful’ tool for both children and adults to learn about different (and sometimes difficult) issues in life.

Kailee enjoys playing with different materials and media. She combines analog and digital drawing, including different printmaking techniques, graphite, color pencils, markers, ink and more, depending on the story.

Kailee is a reflective person and she always gets her story ideas from life - either from her own experiences or from people’s daily lives. Kailee particularly loves drawing landscape and stories about sensitive issues.

Kailee has worked on several book projects that have been recognized with various awards:

One of her works, “Lost and Found”, was shortlisted for Batford Prize’s Children’s Book Award in 2018. In 2022, it was also named a finalist for the Unpublished Picturebook Showcase 4 by dPICTUS.

Another book project, “I will be older than my BIG sister!”, was highly commended in the Macmillan Illustration Prize in 2021. It was also named a finalist for the Unpublished Picturebook Showcase 4 by dPICTUS in 2022.

Kailee’s book project “Adrian” was longlisted for the Unpublished Picturebook 4 by dPICTUS in 2022.

Furthermore, Kailee’s work “my way" was recognized as a finalist in the 2021 Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrator Competition by CBCF.
