Kaelyn considers herself from Michigan, but she didn’t move there until middle school. She spent her early years moving all over, from Wisconsin to Iowa, to Virginia and many places in between.
As an only child who moved around a lot, Kaelyn had to spend a lot of time entertaining herself. She did so by first telling stories, and then by writing them as soon as she could hold a pen. That’s where her love for writing began.
Kaelyn also spent a lot of time reading. She was the kind of student that was often reading or writing rather than paying attention in class. Despite that, Kaelyn managed to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Western Michigan University and, after a brief and terrible stint in law school, a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Denver.
When Kaelyn isn’t writing young adult novels, she works as a youth librarian at a public library. In whatever spare time she has, Kaelyn enjoys television, swimming, baking, and playing with her two dogs.
