Joy Pitcairn is a Chicago-based author and illustrator who writes across multiple age groups and genres. Joy developed a love of reading and writing at a young age and spent much of her childhood with a Nancy Drew book attached to her hand.

A doodler by nature and nurture, Joy grew up entertaining her classmates with whimsical and irreverent sketches drawn in the margins of her notes. She enjoys working in many mediums, but after having children, Joy discovered Procreate and rediscovered her love for storytelling art.

Joy’s classroom background and international experience inform her stories for children and adults, and many of her ideas for adults are sparked by the thought “That’s a great place to hide a body.” (Though, she promises she’s not a killer, unless you happen to be a cockroach...or one of her characters.)

Joy is a member of the SCBWI and a former member of 12x12 and Storyteller Academy.
