Storm Literary Agency

Boutique literary agency representing quality literature from exceptional authors and illustrators

First, there was a  teacher who loved books almost as much as she loved little children. Then, there was an artist who loved pirates, almost as much as he loved cats. As it turns out, that artist could also write, and that teacher loved the pirate stories he wrote. And she shared those stories with the children she taught. The children loved the pirate stories; they also loved the cats. They wanted more stories with pirates and cats. They also wanted an adventure. And the stories gave them so many adventures. And that is that: Storm Literary Agency came about because it needed to. The children requested it. And so did the cats.

Storm Literary Agency welcomes submissions from unique and talented authors and illustrators, those who are not afraid to embrace their capacity to teach, to entertain, to engage and to honor people, young and old, who hopefully, will be changed by the work represented here.

Jen Steiner is an author, wife, mom, attorney, and former All-American Track & Field athlete who still loves running (just slower). At age 5, she self-published her first story on her aunt’s brand-new leather ottoman. While that story enjoyed limited circulation (and got her in a bit of trouble), Jen caught the bug. She’s been writing ever since.

In addition to practicing law, Jen has served as a Congressional Fellow and worked as a community organizer. Now, she enjoys volunteering at school and in the community. A past PTA officer, Jen has contributed to the National PTA Magazine.

The daughter of a Jamaican father and African American mother, Jen wants to tell stories that expand readers’ understanding of the American experience to include families like hers. She takes inspiration for her writing from hours spent making up wacky stories with her kids (anything to keep them away from screens). Jen’s an active member of SCBWI and is grateful for her very kind-hearted critique group.

When not reading or writing, Jen enjoys dominating her family in ping pong, exploring National Parks and vegging out on reality T.V. Jen attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology in Fairfax County, Virginia, studied history at Virginia State University, and received her J.D. from Howard University School of Law. She lives in Virginia with her husband and two children.
