Raised by two musicians in California, James spent much of their childhood writing books that they confidently believed at the time to be courageous masterpieces. (In fact, at times they fear they will never measure up to the manuscript they completed at age four, 'Big Big Pumpkin in the Patch.') After graduating from UCLA’s Ray Bolger Musical Theatre program in 2019, they moved to New York City to pursue both theatre and writing.
In 2021 they turned their writing to comedy, beginning to make anime skits on TikTok and amassing over 1.5 million followers doing so! They have since expanded their content to include informational videos on the topics of gender and sexuality. James has also written and produced several one-acts in Manhattan--most notably their two-person play, Execution Play, which debuted in Emerging Artists Theatre’s New Work Series in 2022. James loves magical realism and dark fantasy, and when not writing their strange little stories they can be found at anime conventions dressed as their favorite characters, wasting their money on figures. James is represented by Madelyn Knecht. |
