J. Gracey
|
J. Gracey is a sapphic horroromance author based in Los Angeles, California. Her storytelling
career began in her childhood, when she would make up bizarre fantasy stories to help her sister fall asleep. She began formally writing in high school, often being asked “Who is making you do this???” when she explained to her peers that she was writing a book. While she had initially planned to be a fantasy/science fiction author, her adulthood brought an unexpected passion for horror that has completely taken over her life. Her work centers strange and offputting queer women, along with themes of loneliness, gender roles, power dynamics, and self-expression. Horroromance serves as a framework for her to explore loving what seems “unlovable;” whether that be personal flaws, societal judgement, or something more macabre. Gravitating towards the comedic side of horror, her work is influenced by the voice-y humor of Diablo Cody and Carrie Fisher. When she isn’t writing, you can find her watching movies in a cemetery or giggling at scareactors in haunted houses. If you can’t find her, it’s because her cats are holding her hostage. J. Gracey is represented by Jenna Satterthwaite. |
