Dr. Haleh Massey

Dr. Haleh Massey has blossomed from an awkward teenager to an awkward mother. She is the author of Say Something, Poupeh Babaee! (Little Bee Books) illustrated by Ghazal Qadri about an Iranian girl who develops selective mutism after a travel ban prevents her parents from joining her in the US. Say Something, Poupeh Babaee! was selected for the American Library Association’s 2025 Best Graphic Novels Reading List and named one of The New York Public Library’s Best Books of 2025. Dr. Massey is also the author of the forthcoming, My Name is Harriet Mansoor (NOT Hairy Man Suit!) (Lee & Low, Spring '26) and My Name is Hangameh Mansoor (NOT Harriet Mansoor!) (Lee & Low, Spring '27), which follow the plight of Hangameh 'Harriet' Mansoor as she navigates life as an Iranian girl in the suburbs of Los Angeles. Dr. Massey is also the creator f AskDrWoodchuck.com, a website for children and their parents that uses humor to reduce stigma and answer questions about common mental health issues.
Dr. Massey is a Clinical Psychologist and Marriage and Family Therapist with almost two decades of experience working with children and their families. She met the love of her life, therapist and author, Christopher Massey aka William DeNoyer, while working for a non-profit agency in the big city. Soon after, Dr. Massey returned to the suburbs, where she and Christopher opened a private practice and are awkwardly raising two amazing children. When she’s not working, Dr. Massey enjoys vacuuming and eating turkey sandwiches. Haleh is represented by Heather Cashman. Publications
