Emily is an author and illustrator, based in Norwich, UK. Whilst she loves drawing in museums, hiding in libraries, hoarding paper and lunchtime, her first love is storytelling.
She found the joy of observational drawing while studying a Masters in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art. Inspired by her observations and memories, her stories portray everyday life through the perspective of a quietly extraordinary character.
Emily illustrates using traditional mixed media including gouache paint, collage and pencils, with some digital techniques thrown in for good measure. She aims to communicate warmth and humour in a visually playful approach, using dynamic compositions and bold colour choices.
Emily's work has been recognised by The Macmillan Prize and Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition.
When Emily isn’t working on her books she’s the Librarian at her local high school. Working with children provides a constant supply of inspiration and helps her feel connected to her audience.
