Storm Literary Agency

Boutique literary agency representing quality literature from exceptional authors and illustrators

First, there was a  teacher who loved books almost as much as she loved little children. Then, there was an artist who loved pirates, almost as much as he loved cats. As it turns out, that artist could also write, and that teacher loved the pirate stories he wrote. And she shared those stories with the children she taught. The children loved the pirate stories; they also loved the cats. They wanted more stories with pirates and cats. They also wanted an adventure. And the stories gave them so many adventures. And that is that: Storm Literary Agency came about because it needed to. The children requested it. And so did the cats.

Storm Literary Agency welcomes submissions from unique and talented authors and illustrators, those who are not afraid to embrace their capacity to teach, to entertain, to engage and to honor people, young and old, who hopefully, will be changed by the work represented here.

Dr. Haleh Massey has blossomed from an awkward teenager to an awkward mother. She is the author of the slated June 2025 publication by Yellow Jacket, Say Something, Poupeh Babaee! about an Iranian girl who develops selective mutism after a travel ban prevents her parents from joining her in the US. Dr. Massey is also the author of the forthcoming Hairy Man Suit (Lee and Low, Spring '26) and Seventh Grade Blues (Lee and Low, Spring '27), which follow the plight of Hangameh 'Harriet' Mansoor as she navigates life as an Iranian girl in the suburbs of Los Angeles. Dr. Massey is also the creator of AskDrWoodchuck.com, a website for children and their parents that uses humor to reduce stigma and answer questions about common mental health issues.

Dr. Massey is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with almost two decades of experience working with children and their families. She met the love of her life, therapist and author, Christopher Massey aka William DeNoyer, while working for a non-profit agency in the big, bad city. Soon after, Dr. Massey returned to the suburbs, where she and Christopher opened a private practice and are awkwardly raising two amazing children. When she’s not working, Dr. Massey enjoys building Legos and eating turkey sandwiches.
