Storm Literary Agency

Boutique literary agency representing quality literature from exceptional authors and illustrators

First, there was a  teacher who loved books almost as much as she loved little children. Then, there was an artist who loved pirates, almost as much as he loved cats. As it turns out, that artist could also write, and that teacher loved the pirate stories he wrote. And she shared those stories with the children she taught. The children loved the pirate stories; they also loved the cats. They wanted more stories with pirates and cats. They also wanted an adventure. And the stories gave them so many adventures. And that is that: Storm Literary Agency came about because it needed to. The children requested it. And so did the cats.

Storm Literary Agency welcomes submissions from unique and talented authors and illustrators, those who are not afraid to embrace their capacity to teach, to entertain, to engage and to honor people, young and old, who hopefully, will be changed by the work represented here.

Cheryl Ann Silich

Ever since the day her dad taught her how to stand on her head as a child, Cheryl has seen the world differently. When her mom read The Wizard of Oz to her, Cheryl learned how to make friends along her path and dream big: She wanted to become an Olympic gymnast. With a paper route, Cheryl bought a balance beam and a unicycle. If all else failed, she would run away to join the circus and work her way "up the ladder" to become Miss Vertigo of the Flying Trapeze! Cheryl never reached the Olympics or the circus, but she got close. She became a champion on the syndicated Hollywood athletic reality TV show American Gladiators. It turns out that swinging on ropes, scaling walls, and powering through Gladiator-sized opponents was an awful lot like being in the circus! And she's been chasing—and catching—dreams ever since.

After Hollywood, Cheryl spent ten years as Executive Producer and Host of her Telly award-winning educational fitness TV show, The Body Perfect by CherylWhile gaining popularity with adult viewers, Cheryl's heart grew for the kids across America as the adolescent obesity epidemic loomed. So, Cheryl combined her parents' gifts—the love of fitness from her dad with her love of all things Oz from her mom, to create Adventures in Oz with Cheryl. Now, kids (ages 3-8) can stretch out with the Scarecrow, get strong with the Lion, and learn about making friends and chasing dreams from Dorothy as they skip down the Yellow Brick Road to Fun and Fitness! The film's 13 national awards included the Hollywood Film Advisory Board's Award of Excellence and a 5-star rating from the Dove Foundation. Cheryl performed her film live at schools and festivals across the country, collecting fans and Wizard of Oz memorabilia along the way. Her personal Oz collection, featured at several museums, was the primary exhibit at The Judy Garland & Children's Discovery Museum for five years.

Today, this multi-media storyteller and longtime SCBWI member reaches again for kids' hearts as The Rhyming Gladiator with stories of big heart, joy, and purpose. When Cheryl isn't reading or writing, she enjoys weightlifting, competitive Master's swimming, dual-sport cycling, and playing the harmonica. She also hosts a weekly talk radio show, is an inspirational speaker on grit and joy, and is working on a memoir.

Now, as living proof that a book can forever hug a child's heart, Cheryl is ready to hug yours. But be warned: Her Gladiator-sized hugs often come with a "free" chiropractic adjustment! (Oh, and yes, she still stands on her head.) Cheryl lives on the Treasure Coast of Florida with her husband, Don.
